I think it's an emotional affair that he's at least semi conscious of. I mean, he can literally read that bitch's mind so he knows that she's attracted to him. Anyways, if you're married and you're meeting up with a person of the opposite sex who is not a family member without your spouse's knowledge: THAT'S CHEATING AND LYING.

no matter what the shit he pulled is unacceptable. that's been the way they communicated as a couple to begin with and it was a mutual understanding. that's like blinding your partner and then telling them to trust what they've always seen in you (even if their ears are now hearing sus shit coming from your direction.)

This is a good point. It's like if a couple always let their partner use their individual phones whenever, without a passcode or anything, and then the guy suddenly puts a passcode on it and doesn't want his GF looking anymore.
If your partner changes their behavior and becomes more secretive, then obviously they want to hide something from you. Of course, not everytime it's cheating. Sometimes they just don't want to spoil a surprise birthday party or something. But if they get hyper defensive and threaten breaking up if you ask why, then it probably is cheating.

I agree, that would have pissed me off if I were her, but honestly if I were her then I wouldn't have agreed to promise that anyways.
I would've expressed that I was hurt by this new boundary because it's something that we've always done, a special way of communication between us that's just for us. Sure we don't need to do it, but I feel more connected to you this way and it feels like you're distancing yourself on purpose.
Anyways, something to that affect. I have a feeling that the author is gonna say, "oh well she's a workaholic, so her husband felt lonely and unimportant which is why he started meeting up with this other chick for attention!" Which is such a horrible message. I get that divorce isn't the immediate button answer and that emotional affairs can definitely be worked on and fixed, but implying that she is just as wrong as her husband for focusing on their career and business is so fucking backwards.

She shouldn't have agreed to his promise in the first place or atleast got mad and asked, cause just threatening her with divorce is already suspetios enough, and a really annoying thing to say, saying it like it's nothing, he doesn't even care or bother thinking about her feelings, and he should know better with their line of work it's their way of communicating and the way he's refusing her and hiding things it's like saying I don't want anything to do with you anymore.
Tho it's really annoying but without communication problems there won't be a plot
Maybe she really was confused at that time but she should've talked to him later or if she's afraid or still suspetios she could've read it while spying on them cause it was the perfect time and everything is gonna he clear and then confronted him later after making up her mind if it's cheating cause if it's really is and with his attitude not even bothering fixing anything and he's already into that girl then what's the point of his threat she should get a divorce..

Probably He's already fully aware otherwise he wouldn't have asked for that promise in that fucked up way, especially with his attitude towards his wife,
Cause With their line of work he should know he should try fixing things with his wife, talking, and keeping distance from that bitch
He's aware that's why he's hiding it, He's meeting that shit in secret and the moves he's making, he's probably happy with getting some attention and "new feelings" from that bitch and probably later he's gonna be like "she gave me feelings you didn't bla bla"
I already hate him and need a second ml or just him not being the ml and his wife meeting someone else
But idk about the cover..
I don't think that's it ..
i think there's more to it than just helping her and it was all just a "misunderstanding"
