"yeah sad but that doesn't justify him."

wow... it's like... backstories are for understanding his behavior and why... he's an asshole... like... he saw himself in dan and treated him badly because of his untreated trauma which led to his violent behavior... it's as if... the backstory lets us know more about him so we connect his mannerisms and reasons.... not to... justify his actions or making you like him...

wow. is this how backstories work?? is this how storytelling works??!?!?

and people say media illiteracy is not real when BL communities are full of it...

Yeah! Like we're learning about this person. Excusing and Understanding are two different things guys. You can't expect that everyone from such background will always be a hero to save the day. Someone is bound to become a shitty asshole, does that excuse them?

No! Of course not, no one is excusing that fact that he's a rapist, and that he should just khs, but this backstory is there to show what kind of shitty things happened to shitty asshole so we can see, and understand.

This bastard is desperate as fuck, believing of a Jinx just to win so he could earn a lot of money then raped Dan, fuck this guy, I hate him, BUT DAMN THAT'S A SHITTY LIFE!

Yup. That's just how it works, but if we need to take someone's hand in stories like this every time to remind them "this is not an excuse. this doesn't justify their actions." i think you don't really see the whole picture or see more than that--the author is giving information for most of his shitty behavior throughout the story. His mannerisms, his actions, his decision, why he's so violent... there's so much to see than "yeah boohoo but doesn't justify him", which is something obvious?

And true. The abused don't always turn to be the abuser, but it does happen. Eyebrows is an example of that. His trauma turned him into an arrogant, violent asshole. People compare him to Dan, but Dan had an emotional support that loved him very much and grew to be a sweetheart despite his poverty. Eyebrows didn't, and it made him the way he is.

JK really makes me pull my hair by being such a baby, ngl. I understand his reasoning but damn, bro really acts like a rabid dog.
