The mother doesnt intend to kill the love of her life not intended to bleed him to death. Out of fear, she panicked then accidentally slashed his (magnificent) body resulting a deep wound. The mother said before she met MC's father, she too was no different from her kind, she was arrogant, self-centered just like a dragon, but she changed when she met him. The mother acted like how she was before she met him in order for him to hate her. But she was not aware that she was pregnant with their child, she was only able to find that out probably after she left him. She regretted it so she gave the name, that she and her lover came up with, Jayna, to MC, it is like a symbol of saying, "I'm sorry and I love you both." and her first and last gift for MC. Indeed, it was stupid and selfish. But for her, it was the only option to protect her lover. It is an emotional decision, she couldnt think rationally.
Also The mother also knows how soft-heart and kind her lover is, that is why she didnt tell him the truth because she knew he would blame himself for being unable to do anything for her. Tbh I cant blame her for that.
