Honestly you’re right.. the author at least makes the case clear.. it’s just the emotional storytelling is so compelling so the reader could feel that the MC’s actions and reasons are more important than the ML
And tbh an upstanding gallery staff member was probably the final naw in the coffin. I think it also makes sense why Yigon never took drastic action, he kinda believed his brother to be bluffing but as things escalated further I think he took the easiest solution which was co-depend on Taekang which obviously backfired stupendously

I mean I think that's the reason why this is so frustrating. If the ml were being unrealistic this story would be the type you drop due to the characters not acting like you'd expect. Instead we're sitting here wondering when he does get believed
Wanting someone who's suffering to not be suffering anymore and understanding why a character acts overly cautious aren't mutually exclusive. I just feel like it's telling that a story is good when characters can both act within reason and frustrate you at the same time. Makes them much more believable

I agree completely. I'm completely hooked. I cannot wait for the ML to realize that he was wrong the entire time.
I just don't like all the comments saying that the ML is a monster and whatnot. It just feels like those people aren't looking at the story critically and aren't appreciating how well this author is doing. This is so much better than much of the yaoi out there and I really appreciate it.

It's completely understandable why the MC hasn't been working to defend himself. He's been trying to make himself look bad for so long that it never occurred to him that he needed to defend himself. Now he's in love and he's hoping the person he loves will just believe him. Unfortunately, the world just doesn't work like that.
The world especially doesn't work like that for addicts. It is normal and natural for people to not believe someone they think is an addict. It sucks because addiction is a disease but one of the symptoms of that disease is lying.
I think that makes this story even more compelling. I think this is world's better than the typical yaoi where the characters act completely irrationally. When you look at both of these characters critically their actions make perfect sense. They feel like real characters that are making real decisions. This author is really talented.

I was about to make the exact same points as you did especially when it was shown that male lead did do his due diligence as you said. It's clear the brother is just as smart in covering his tracks and Yigon does not have a good reputation at all so it makes complete sense that Taekang does not believe him. Yet we have an audience hating the male lead like he's the worst but that's just cause you all feel bad for Yigon. ML is rational and gathered background checks on everything and everything does not support what Yigon is telling him or is coincidental at the most. In fact Yigon is also very rational despite his anxiety and paranoia about his brother killing him. IDK ppl call the ML the worst and Yigon as stupid when the author is very clearly showing that Yigon KNOWS EXACTLY what he's doing.

If we look at the past with his older brother, he was one of the few figures in his life (for such a long period at that) to care and nurture him beyond societal and familial expectations.. it’s kinda hard for you to see such a person as harming your life especially when your feelings for them are pure and unadulterated:(
Remember he also researched about Yigon’s visits with his psychiatrist so that probably added fuel to the fire of misunderstandings. With his history of omitting the most important information too it was just not looking good

Of course I remember, I actually brought it up in a past comment but all of this due diligence on Taekang's part solidifies why he believes what he believes. As a reader I picked up and remembered that his brother was the ONLY figure to show him any affection and he has latched onto him and will not easily give up regaining his love/trust. He knows logically his brother is lowkey crazy but naively is holding onto past affection and this hope that things will go back to the way they were if he did all this.
All of you blindly defending the main character just because they're the main character are forgetting that the ML does not know what you know. As far as the ML knows, this man is a drug addict who is a known liar. All of the evidence points to him being crazy and unreliable. His brother appears to be an upstanding respectable man.
The main character has done nothing to change the ML's perception of him. He has collected no evidence of any of this. He doesn't take screenshots or record his brother. He doesn't write anything down. He doesn't journal even. It's very hard to believe someone when they appear to be completely unreliable.
The ML even did due diligence. He looked into all of the examples he was given and there was a logical explanation for all of them.
We know the main character isn't lying because the story is told from his point of view and you're using that judge the ML completely unfairly.
I would have kicked him out of my house the second that article and the evidence in that article came out about him doing drugs. Most of you would have done the same.
