Forgot to add, if you reread this webtoon you'll see a few scenes from.the past where he had a feeling the MC wasn't being treated well at home. It was this specific scene from the latest chapter that really solidified and opened his eyes to the extent of the abuse MC was facing from his own dad. The large bruises, and the fact he was left alone when he has a high fever (when the panels change from the MC's face with the fever strip on his forehead, to the loaner unc staring at him with a swollen expression) all while his dad went to meet someone outside for fun.

The scene from the past which you managed to completely misunderstand is clearly meant to show readers why the loaner is getting involved now. He finally wants to do something right and make sure the MC doesn’t get hurt all over again.
