He was so vulnerable and put at the mercy of a sadistic power hungry monster. There really was nothing he could have done to protect/save himself in the first timeline because he was just a kid. The only reason he was able to take charge and assert his rights is that he now has the mind and experiences of an adult, and deep knowledge of the future
wow the regression surprised me, but it's kinda a good surprise? for me atleast. since the prince has been struggling for a long time, i think it's best that he gets to rewrite his own fate. he deserves happiness and peace after all that.
