Just give the child to me, c'mon. I see this behaviour in kids I used to take care of.

I agree, kinda want the brother to redeem himself. But lacking in empathy is probably his own way of coping with their family’s situation, just as it is the brother’s reaction to the family is being rebellious. While the mc can’t do anything about his family in his first life, he can work hard to get the results he wants. Anyways, I like that the first family actually have some personality rather than just being evil and neglectful and totally one dimensional. Heck, even the mistress seems smart and actually know her place.
I'm just going to leave this here; I do not like his past family. No matter how wholesome they're trying to make it, his father from his past life was neglectful and played favourites, which led to the inferiority complex from the children, and even now is somehow paying more attention to a child who he doesn't currently know has any affiliation to him.
"I feel a familiar bond." And you can't even feel one with your children, who your wife (who's also a problem) gave birth to?
I literally can't hate the brother from his past life who's supposed to be evil if you're going to make him that pitiful.
I dislike MC more than the brother, who lacks empathy. "Oh well, can't relate because when I was a child, when my parents didn't appear to properly take care of me, I was doing party tricks."(Maybe it'll change in the novel)
Every time the father from his past life shows up, I feel hatred and want him to get out of my face. Only loving your child if they act like an adult from a young age and raise themselves. And they tried to make the grandfather's death sad when he's out here criticizing and comparing his grandchildren.
Now I'm just rambling, but dang, I felt sad for his brother when he was crying for his mother and the woman just didn't show up. And when she does, she tells him to sit down. This series just has me fantasizing about treating my own future children well and raising them in a way so they don't become like whatever they did.
