I see many people complaining about Jaekyung, yet his character is fairly well depicted. Yes, he is an abused turned abuser. This backstory just gives an explanation of why Jaekyung is the way he is. Being severely abused at age 6 stunts the development of a certain part of their brain that is responsible for empathy.
Jaekyung is a very complex character who has indeed suffered a lot and only found solace in physical strength; he needs to dominate, he needs to feel strong, so he doesn't have a mental breakdown.
Maybe deep down, he seeks and wants intimacy that goes beyond domination, that is a real human connection that he seems to be missing in his life (ch 44), but we won't know it for sure (yet)
Does it excuse his actions? No, of course not. But he is not a black and white character, but rather a morally questionable one. This is a dark manhwa about people and their suffering, not fluffy and cute couple stuff.
