I totally get your point but in his defence she didn't try either. Wish is perfectly normal for both of them, have you ever seen a teenager they represse their feelings, thoughts and dreams even about the smallest most insignificant thing like their favourite food add to that their social ranks and responsibilities and you end up with two repressed young adults that can't communicate even when their lives at stake
He isn't abusive, forcefully or mean. plus he communicate his feelings honestly, and admit to his mistakes, BUT he still just a MAN he ain't worth risking her life like love is good living is better
