the planned marriage between Ellen and Enzo was part of a political deal if i remember correctly. Romagna, led by the Pope, was engaged in a war and needed military assistance from Britannia. The marriage was intended as leverage to ensure that Britannia would uphold their end of the deal and provide military support as i remember from tje novel. I think the pope also promised that ellen would become queen im Romagna if she married enzo

I didn’t quite follow or it was tl issues what was the deal between the pope and papa how was ellen supposed to become the queen in this deal if she married ruby's 2nd brother or did they mess up the sons/daughters help please
