Ofc, I felt bad for Jun, he was really hurt and it would be totally understandable if he turned his back and never looked at Yoonseul again. He would have gotten what was coming for him. If I were Jun’s friend I would probably wish for him to just move on and never entertain ML again.
But was he really that hate worthy as people portray him to be? Nah, I don’t think so.
1st ending - he was just a kid annoyed that he got hate and a punch because of some jealous dick. Come on, I know it’s more common in asian culture, but don’t tell me you wouldn’t be weirded out if a guy you thought you never spoke to suddenly came to confessed his feelings for you? He reacted fine the first time. The second tome he acted like a dick and regretted it the second after, cause he knew he just misplaced his anger. Couldn’t have really done anything about it. And he kept feeling guilty. People often hurt each other in anger, the fact that he never brushed it off and never moved on from the guilt makes him rather a good person.
2nd ending - yeah, him approaching the guy he knew had feelings for him in the past and giving him hope was really fucking dense of him. But he didn’t have any bad intentions. He always saw guy as friends, never even fathomed he could be bi/gay - so he acted carelessly, not thinking it might give Jun some ideas. At certain point he did self reflect on the fact that he was treating Jun different than a friend but not for everyone accepting their own sexuality is something that happens immediately. People often notice they fell for a same-gender friend only after going through a list of excuses. And even after realizing you might be queer - it’s not so easy to accept it. The kiss was a drunken mistake but after that he tried to confront his own feelings and sexuality and he really thought he could never be with a man. When Jun asked him to talk and confessed for the second time - he was very honest. Admitted he himself felt conflicted and lost in his feelings but he came to conclusion that he was straight. Again, very hurtful from the perspective of Jun. But not malicious on Yoonseul’s part. Just careless. It’s a nature of human relationships that we’re bound to hurt each other when we’re still learning to understand ourselves. Happens.
3rd ending - this is when Yoonseul finally accepted his sexuality and feelings for Jun. A bit too late, sure. Is it that weird though? It takes time. Sometimes a strong stimuli, such as Jun cutting him off in this case. And when he approached him again, it wasn’t because he was feeling bad about himself or whatever. It was with pure intentions. He just didn’t want to lose someone he realized too late he loved. He’s guilty of not respecting Jun’s feelings, cause Jun was hurt and needed some space and time. But damn, it’s not wrong to fight for relationships with people you care about. Be it friends or lovers. We let go too easily nowadays. And he knew that Jun was hurting because of his love, so he knew that despite his distrust and suffering, he could still make things right by loving him back.
As I said, on a personal level I agree that Jun would be totally justified to just drop his ass and find someone better. But at the same thing, objectively, I don’t see Yoonseul as an asshole. Just a person learning to love another person, at a different pace than the other one.
…but he’s not that bad?
