Well for me, now it makes sense why there was not even a bit of kindness in him, he never experienced love so he can't give it to anyone. He can tolerate or show kindness to a few people in his life, like the director and Dan's grandma. He is just learning how to love by meeting Dan. I dont know why but my hate for JK's character diminished because of his back story LOL, the pacing is not new to us, as expected from author Mingwa
