First thing I noticed was that everyone works on infinite MP. Literally no one ever runs out of mana in the novel, except for one time where the fire mage girl ran out after grinding monsters for hours. She then just meditates for a few minutes and goes back to grinding. And there is not a single mention of MP potions either. Only HP potions and elixirs that increase Core rank.
Core rank is mainly Max MP. It's rank is what determines what spells someone can cast. C-rank Core - up to C-rank spells. Anything higher is impossible, it will just eat all the mana in the body and kill the caster. Except if they manage to rank up a weaker skill beyond Core's rank, then it seems to be not an issue.
And yeah, everyone just uses mana, no different energies. So murim cultivators, mages, knights, archers, gunmen, all of them just use mana regardless of the type of skills. There is demonic energy used by demonic cultivators but it's basically villain-only type of energy.
There are no levels in this world either. Core is what determines all stats. So all people with Core of the same rank have similar stats. It's basically passive Mana enhancement. So when someone enters those Fixed Dungeons that allow only up to a certain rank of skills/equipment, their Core drops in rank too and therefore all stats drop to that rank as well. Basically, Core is the power level of a person in this world.
Skills and equipment only have ranks too, no levels. And when it comes to gear and skills, it seems like there is no real class or rank restriction. You get S-rank equipment - you can use it right away. There is also technically no limit to learning spells/skills, but some dungeons have rules like 'only 10 skills are allowed'. The issue is also that you can seemingly learn skills only from skill books or as quest rewards.
It's just for fun, read if you want to.
