Ima stand and die on this hill idc. JJK is traumatized and just repeating history. There are 3 outcomes to being raised in those types of environments, you become like what raised you, you become like Dan - depressed, suffering ptsd and addicted to something and very few become the golden story where they rise up and become good functioning humans. JjK just happens to be the one in the first situation, all he's known is violence, indifference and no one from what I have seen has actually tried to help him. They just let him be or tiptoe around him. Now he's facing a situation with Dan where he actually has to confront his past and change for the better

this is actually a very insightful comment ^^ ty for actually saying out what I was thinking. most people stop at "he's a pos" which is absolutely true, but forget that there are reasons and patterns to his behaviour that, while not justifying it, can be both an explanation and a starting point for recovery.

TYYyyy, I hate seeing those comments cause if you can't enjoy a story because of your hate for one character then just close the book. I do hope Minhwa actually makes him realise his mistakes and genuinely seek therapy etc. not just a simple "redemption arc" but to see his character actually grow to his fullest potential

I'll die on this hill with you. I was freaking waiting for someone to post a comment like this. To whomever said that JJK can leave alone Dan and die in a pit (you were not wrong in the beggining, I kinda wished that too) - he didn't know anything else or better... I knew he had a trauma from childhood bc look at him... No child is violent if they didn't seen it before from their parents/guardians/schoolmates (you get my point). I'm starting to take a pity on him bc of his childhood (call me a softy bc of that) and yes, yes, another author explains their shitty behaviour bc of trauma but that's just how the real world works. You don't know everyones trauma especially if you didn't live like that or similiarly. Yes, Dan was also abused but he remained broken and trying his best to be the opposite despite his depression (kind, generous and honest). He's someone who broke his family's "karma" as one of my friend's said that. JJK almost continues his family's karma, but bc of Dan I believe he'll change to a better person. Yes, it won't change the past, but why are people so stuck in the past? You can get through it with or without help. JJK (and also Dan) needs a freaking therapist and a new chapter in their life. Maybe they will find their new chapter in each other. I can forgive JJK for this. Plus it's just a manhwa even tho it shows similarity to our real world (abusing parents, huge traumas and the backlashes of fame).
