If Thorne didn't know why his father sent Ilya to Hanu, maybe it was because he knew that omegas are worshipped in that country? That he thought he will have a good life in Hanu than staying there hated by everyone just by being an omega? Maybe his father was cold in the outside but he actually cares a little bit for Ilya? And the fact that his father wants him to leave as soon as possible, saying he doesn't belong in that country anymore, was his way of protecting him since he knew what Thorne was planning on marrying Ilya off to another country?

That is a good theory. Hope that is the case.

You’re probably right and it annoys me that this plot is even happening. Why is the Father so insane of controlling his own son?

I was thinking the same thing.

From what I remember, the father disdained omegas until he got an omega son of his own; however, it wasn't an instant change (and it was too late when looking at Throne's behavior), just observing. Then, rather than being kept in a place or married off to a place that will treat him like dirt and shit, he was married to a place where omegas are worshipped. Don't quote me on this, but he didn't forgive his father. However, I do think Huey will break the cycle
