We live in a black and white world. You are 100% on one side or 100% on another side. God forbid you can have complex thoughts and emotions about a topic. Thank you for reminding everyone that you can feel pity for one side of a person and also not tolerate the other side simultaneously
But I also understand that people are recognizing this is the way the author is trying to make us forgive ML, and the author needs to understand this isn't going to work. We need to see ML on his knees begging forgiveness. We need to see him eat shit for the actions of his present self. And if he doesn't, that's the end of this story for most of us XD

true! I do also feel like this is the author's way of making us feel bad for ml. I felt it the moment the backstory started, unfortunately it isn't enough and idk it feels kinda of.. forced? I'm afraid we'll need at least 30 chapters for the chasing arc and another 30 for his redemption arc or maybe longer lol

Exactly! Like I hate Jjk’s guts but his past just hurts me, his past self didn’t deserve everything that happened to him, I feel horrible, a lot of times unfortunately, abused people become abusers themselves and Jjk’s a reflection of that. But despite that, he deserves to get consequences for his shit ass actions in the present.

XD I think the reason we are all so adverse to the backstory is because of where it's located in the plot. We are all hoping for a chasing and redemption. But the sad backstory right now feels like its meant to help us forgive. I feel like this would be a good topic AFTER the chasing and redemption arc. AFTER he pays for the actions of today's version of him. But the backstory right now is just so obviously hitting at pity play -.-

Thank you! I wish we could like replies so I don't have to ping everyone in this conversation XD. But that means a lot <3
(They also could have put the backstory in the beginning, way before redemption arc was needed, and before the abuse got too bad (IE before the keychain trash scene). Would have given context but also not be asking for forgiveness. Because even with that backstory, he still threw away the keychain gift later, and the backstory is not being presented as a scene of pity and forgiveness, but instead a scene of context for why he turned out this toxic. Overcoming his dad's shadow can be a great redemption arc, and learning that he doesn't need to be toxic too, cleaning up his act, and seeking proper forgiveness through his actions to clean up his messes of the past. I hope it still goes in this direction, but the backstory is definitely in the wrong part of the story) :/
Sorry everyone else for all the pings XD
guys calm down, we can feel sympathy for his past and ALSO hate him for the present him. let's not completely ignore how his father's treatment affected him. y'all who are acting like "meh okay move on" are the reason why ppl don't become better. the point of the backstory is just to make us UNDERSTAND how he turned to be who he is today, you're still free to hate him but don't be ignorant
