I wonder if his obsession with winning is from his daddy issues and his jinx is from feeling like shit. Which is why he chooses twinks. The fighters in the ring are his old man (violent) and the twinks are his younger self (weak). In a twisted way, he's putting them in their place. So he can't win a fight until he beats his old self first. The small, emotional, weak, pushover. The kid that was looking for attention and affection. Kill the old self and become a monster, to beat the monsters. That kind of thing. And somehow it ended up becoming a ritual; a jinx....
