Soooo the issue with wings started when the slave (i forgot the name) poured the healing potion over it. Since the potion is low grade, it kinda damaged the way the roots of the wings as it healed. (The wings regenerate) but since the root is damaged, therss a high risk of it defeforming. The only way to resolve it is to open the wound again and rearrange the roots, mind you anesthesia doesnt exist in this world. Sehyun made the choice to do it even if its suuuuupppeeerrrr painful because his wings is kind of a symbol in his kingdom. Basically if the people especially his vasals see that the king is flawed, they would carry the guilt and such he made the decision to hurt himself again just to grow his wings back normally.
The doctor said along the lines of "the wings should grow back as if nothing happened" as to not show weakness of something. Please correct me if I'm wrong as this was how interpreted the scene. GUYYSS T^T THE SCENE IS SO SAD. SEHYUN ALMOST DIED BECAUSE OF THE PAIN and luhak was a bit or actually traumatized because of how much blood came from the wound.
