I understand that some people hate on Taegu because he might catch feelings for Yeongwoon. I can accept reasonable criticism like 'he’s not exactly a morally good person' and that’s the whole point of his character. What I can’t stand are the brainless takes from people who hate on him just for the sake of it. They refuse to engage with the emotional complexity of his character. Well they deserve those flat, flaw-free, saint-like characters with zero cha depth. If that’s all they can handle, then maybe layered writing just isn’t for them.

Yes, it’s boring when the characters are perfect saints. It’s unrealistic - people are never that flat, perfectly moral and uncomplex, I think the reason why humans are so interesting and great to write stories about, is because they’re so multi-dimensional, complicated and often times morally gray.

EXACTLY. I don't love him nor do I necessarily like him, but good god the hate is so fucking shallow mostly.
especially with these "pedo" accusations, PEOPLE, DO WE KNOW WHAT PEDOPHILIA IS? I do get the more broken down critiques, but the "tHis PeDo" arguments without full context is quit literally so annoying and are just some of those weighing in on *actual* issues with pedophilia by misusing this label and throwing it around.
There are three types of Taegu haters:
The lazy ones who toss around baseless labels like "pedo" without context.
The ones mad because he doesn't fit your "gangsta swoops in to save the day" fantasy.
And, of course, the Seo-in simps who can’t handle nuance.
If you need to twist a character’s actions into something sinister just to justify your hate, maybe you’re not the kind of reader who can handle layered storytelling. Just drop the story yeah ? I'll keep reading, because I actually appreciate all three well-written characters, flaws and all.
