Another “I was framed to be a villainess”

I was initially excited in the beginning because it was presented as a revenge story, but as the chapters went on to the 30’s, it kinda lost the plot. Or the plot technically makes sense, but the flow is meh.

Which is too bad, because I loved how she dealt with her ex-fiancé. At least that part is worth reading imo.

It starts with going back in time by one year, she sets up her cheating fiancé and sister together. Then she takes care of her mother’s health, which leads to her making connections and starting a business with the crown prince. Which is fine and dandy and all since it'll interfere with her sister's sainthood and religion seems to be corrupted by greed by monopolizing the healing industry. She'll steal her sister's sidekicks. And she'll become queen/empress. Yay /s

I don't know if I’ve been spoiled by peak content but this is not it. ML is a piece of white bread. Sure, he's perfect on the outside, scarred and trapped on the inside, but he's still so basic and boring.

FL is his first love after she comforts him at the funeral, but they never have the chance to meet again until she goes back in time to exceute her revenge, which is essentially just living well and being smart and sucessful thanks to her knowledge of the future. But seriously. they were only able to meet again thanks to her mom, his sister, and the plot?

Giving him a standard introduction of rescuing a damsel in distress. Sure, he's a prince with responsibilities, but his presentation screams sub-ML. He didn't even try to see her. I wanna call BS because he's the crown prince, but I’ll give the benefit of the doubt that maybe he doesn't have the freedom to choose his engagement for now. But also seeing how his parents turned out (probably arranged marriage), you would think that his grandfather might give him the freedom to choose? Unless it's that pressure to not be like his dad that his marriage shouldn't fail?

There is no love rival so far (guard already understood the assignment after seeing the leads together, which is a shame because he's interesting) so luckily ML gets to win by default because anyone else would’ve won her over. (Or probably can’t, because they would be interested in her because of her money, and the prince is interested in her for herself.)

He used to have an older brother, but since he died in the accident he’s the crown prince. At least there’s no toxic sibling comparison, “He’ll be a great ruler but if his brother was still alive, things would be even better” just survivor’s guilt.

Since the queen’s death was a set up by his father, does he have a half brother who could challenge him for the throne? Love rival for ML? Not that it matters since we see that they end up together in chapter 1, and grandpa wouldn’t acknowledge an illegitimate child. Unless he commits regicide.

But either way, the story seems to look down on half siblings, soooo speaking of siblings, what about ML’s sister?

She has a skin condition that nobody gets to see, except maybe ML and her maids. Maybe the artist didn’t want to draw it or offend, or maybe they didn’t want to make FL too OP when saving the princess: going from “that” to miraculously presentable in front of other people.

The romance feels try hard and not enough effort. It’s like pouring oil on cold water - it does not blend well. I know that they’ll end up together, but it’s not exciting watching these introverts interact. I cringed at seeing the ML wanting to help her move her hair out of her face - it wasn’t even a cliche leaf/dust in her hair because the guard already got that covered haha.

Look at what they have in common: cheating dads, dead moms (past life), loved ones who need skin care, and business. I get that it’s supposed to be business based, seeing how it’s about FL getting rich and I love that for her, but the way they try to incorporate romance is just not it.

It might be better if they gender-bent the characters:

MC: the oldest son but father and sister seem to dote on and favor the illegitimate youngest son. Decides to independently start businesses with his mom’s support.

ML: Pretty but awkward princess who has a slightly better excuse to be unable to see MC.

Princess: The hidden crown prince who’s skin is saved thanks to MC’s products.

Half-sibling: wants to steal the duchy from his brother, but also future saint…?

but then we wouldn’t have a reformed girl boss MC, sigh. At this point I’m just here to watch the villainess suffer and wait until it’s complete.

Anyways, maybe I’m just spoiled from reading peak stories. Girl boss business story recommendations:

Say Ah, the Golden Spoon is Entering / Here Comes The Silver Spoon:

Literally the superior /alternate universe version of this story, except the FL is already a business tycoon. And it’s complete!

If you want a FL starting up business with ML, then I suggest: I Couldn't Care Less About the Original, I'm Just Trying to Survive / I Don't know The Original, I'm Busy Making a Living
