Yeah I get where you’re coming from. If a Yuri series is set in brothels it can feel kinda weird seeing people hype it up without mentioning the irl issues. But I don’t think Yuri fans are suddenly “getting stupider” or out here glorifying prostitution. This manga gets hyped because it’s well written has gorgeous art the characters have great chemistry and the spicy scenes hit different. Not because anyone thinks "real" brothels are cool. The story doesn’t show anything non consensual or forced stuff and the setting feels more like a narrative backdrop than some pro brothel industry message.
I totally agree sex work and the industry have serious problems. Prostitution is definitely not some "cool" thing and it’s damn important to recognize the exploitation and abuse that happens. That’s why I’m not condoning it at all. Honestly I think the author chose brothels because it’s an easy way to have a lot of smut and different people involved without dealing with heavy drama or complicated consent stuff. It keeps the story light and way less serious making it more about enjoyment and less about all the usual emotional baggage when there’s multiple people involved.
Whereas in Japan life can be super stressful. A lot of people just work commute sleep repeat which makes it hard to form close relationships. Some turn to these kinds of services for human connection for work to earn money and passion. Yeah some people actually do it because they’re passionate about this kind of stuff. That doesn’t erase the messed up parts of the industry but it’s a complex reality.
Overall Yuri fans aren’t dumb. We can separate fantasy from reality. If this manga was trash or had actual gross non consensual stuff the comments would be full of rage and dragging it instead of praising it. Since this manga is more on the smutty side the comments here are naturally gonna be wild compared to wholesome fluffy Yuri’s. This is just one of many vibes a genre can have and tbh enjoying it doesn’t mean anyone is automatically gonna do it irl.
On a side note this fiction is based in Japan which has a unique and different culture but still a fiction. So please minors don’t think this is some kind of cool job or fun hobby. It’s not safe it’s not glamorous and it’s nothing like this manga at all pookie. For co adults it’s your life and your money just make sure you’re being safe and responsible about it… and don’t cry if you go broke.
