They did, in fact, get back together. Shen gets robbed while on a work trip, and the thief then gets hit by an incoming truck. Since his bag was stolen with his identification in there, the hospital mistakes the thief for Shen and calls Ren. By the time Ren arrives, he receives the news that "Shen" has died. Thankfully, Shen is actually alive, and the person on the deathbed is the thief.
Rui then hugs Shen tightly, and in later chapters, they grow closer day by day, with Rui refusing to let Shen go, even in his sleep. They eventually reconcile, promising never to break up again. They return to their old high school campus and reminisce about the past, reflecting on how things might have been different if they had communicated properly before.

Oh and as for their breakup, Rui said he impulsively broke up with Shen due to lack of attention and after witnessing Shen being kissed by the glasses guy (I just can't remember his name) while drunk. Rui was hoping he would mention it when they call but Shen never brings it up, breaking that trust Rui has for Shen. Since they didn't get into the same school, there's of course lack of time for each other, which severely hurt Rui. (￣ε(#￣)Σ Σ( ￣□￣||) ε=ε=(ノ≧∇≦)ノ
