Why are these grown adults cowering to outside forces? YOURE AN ADULT! I know what it’s like living in a culture where it’s family first but this is 2025. If my family told me to leave someone both me and my child adored and I wanted to marry, I’d tell them to mind their own business and keep their nose out of MY love affairs since I don’t get involved in THEIR love affairs. It’s got nothing to do with them. It’s not even something said as concern! “please don’t cause this woman or your child pain by letting them get attached if you’re not sure you truly want a family with her.” Is fine but “leave her!” Is not. Boundaries exist for a reason and a lot of adults forget that they ARE adults. They work and pay taxes and live alone and they are capable of making their own decisions. That’s the whole point of parents. You raise your child to be able to do those things and then you let them free and hope they succeed in life and visit you often out of love and not fear. If you can’t let them free, you’re treating them worse than a dog.
