idk what exactly you mean by “why” but the flashback is showing Taegus pov and how the events actually played out when mc left his dad and how taegu started helping him, showing how their relationship started, for “why we’re STILL in the past” I guess that’s just how the author decided to pace the chapters? instead of just one or two chapters in the past they decided to use multiple to show all the aspects of the story that they intend to.

ohhhh I thought you were referring to the current flashbacks, basically if you reread chapter 1, it shows the MC beaten up, and that hasn’t actually happened yet in our current timeline, it’s still going to happen, so people are referring to him being beaten up as the present time, and then the current story is technically the past, leading up to that moment we saw briefly in chapter 1. it’s something authors do to create suspense and pull you in, showing a future event that leaves you questioning what’s happening and then plunging the story further back in the past and leading it up to the events that they briefly showed.
can someone explain to me why we’re still in the past?
