I get what you’re saying, but some people DO read for porn. This website actually has lots of it, and they aren’t hiding it. In my opinion, that’s ok. It’s way better to consume fictional porn rather than encourage industries who profit off women and trafficking. Though I do agree with your point on the normalized r*pe. Stories with rape + other toxic tropes come with a mature rating for a reason. You're not supposed to read them when you're young because you're going to have a hard time distinguishing it from what should be normal in a real-life relationship. I should know, I used to read on Wattpad when I was 9, and it really influenced how I dealt with my relationships as a teen. Though those tropes can also be helpful for younger audiences when the authors frame them as a bad thing, because it can help them see those signs in their real-life relationships. Sadly, most of them treat rape as just a part of some BL checklist, so you do need to know better to even start reading those stories.
Some people read BL to be happy, some read it for the porn, some read it for the thrill – we have multitudes of reason. Personally, I read BLs like Jinx (which is not the worst BL tbh, it just seems like it because it's the most popular one atm) because I lack that kind of stress in my life hahaha I need to feel something ╮(￣▽￣)╭
This isnt a question but I feel like being in the bl fandom makes me ashamed nowadays. We’re so hooked into reading bl we didnt realize we were too young reading drawn porn in disguise of love. And obviously im not stating that it is just bl but its because bl has such a huge women dominated fandom it makes me wonder why. When i see plotlines or stories like jinx, code name anastasia, rose and champagne it makes me REALLY confused why people like it so much. I feel like their facecards are saving them thats why people like them. I cant explain it in a sophisticated way but its just utterly and purely disgusting that people like this when it icks me and gross me out the moment the top rapes their supposedly partner. I still read bl but i dont think id be reading something similar to these stories…
