I feel like calling MC naive would be more accurate than calling him straight dumb. He could be proficient in knowing the laws, have good physical fitness, etc. But he has a very innocent view of the world that hardwork and 'doing the right thing' will bring positive outcomes. I feel for him and still hope he doesn't stop believing that doing and being 'good' is a necessity in society. It's so, so easy to take the easy way out and not commit to values and morals, especially when you face people like the yakuza boss.
(I might be slightly delusional that 'justice' will prevail in this story haha.)
Also people wanting the MC to kill himself, but I'm hoping it'll be more like MC is willing to keep fighting to the bitter end, and maybe even take out the yakuza boss. Maybe unrealistic, because the yakuza boss is irredeemable, but I reeeeeally hope that the yakuza boss admits MC as the winner by the end.
