I see now, thank you for your reply!
I'm not familiar with the novel and all I know is what we've seen here so far. I understand people that don't like it, but I wonder why they are still here then? And most of the complaining I've seen so far is actually people who haven't even read the novel/barely read the manhwa and are just going off based on gossip and theories... I think you'd at least give it a try or not interact with it at all if it makes you THAT uncomfortable... imho, at least. But well (=・ω・=)

The thing is, like I said, I've been reading these type of dark-themed BLs for a while now, and never had I seen this level of drama in the comment section (aside from Jinx I guess). Because you usually have a specific audience for it that, regardless, will enjoy the content for its nature. But it's the first time I see such 'nature' being the issue... as if ppl reading didn't know what type of content they're consuming?
And well, I won't comment on which deserves hate more because to each their own. I'd rather not interact with something I hate than to hate on it...

thing is, too, people are obviously aware of both manhwa's being dark themed but it seriously pisses me off when hate is not delivered equally. imagine my surprise when i see jinx flooded with shit comments and when i switch to codename anastasia, all it's talking about is the new art style and how zhenya looks good. be so fucking for real like stop this madness. i, too, would rather not hate on something i know of its genre, but this is absolutely ridiculous. if yall are gonna hate on jinx, hate on this too or just stop reading overall because this MONSTER zhenya is a fucking abomination

I guess that it's because the expectations for both are very different. With Zhenya, we KNOW he is a psychopath and grew up in an environment that, rather than stop his twisted personality, encouraged it. He has never been a victim but has always been a perpetrator (from what we've seen so far). People expect very little of him to begin with.
On the other hand, Jaekyung WAS a victim and became a perpetrator. Despite the horrible people around him (we know who), he still had a lot of good-natured people around him and he is... well, just a regular civilian. This is why readers might feel he deserves more hate, perhaps? Because he still operates under civil and moral laws... sort of. I'm not saying the hate is deserved or anything btw, this is definitely a case of double standards but this is what I think might be it seeing the characters, their stories, and comments from other fans...
Not to defend the manhwa, but I guess it reached the wrong audience to have so much unnecessary hate toward it.
Maybe it's because I've been reading a lot of dark-themed, toxic manhwas lately with a dash of the obsessive/manipulating ML... but this one is rather tame in comparison. I kept reading everywhere that it was incredibly dark and the like, but no, it's actually developed exactly as I expected from the initial setting. I mean, it's a state spy and a mafia dude. And the comment sections of those other manhwa aren't nearly as dramatic as the people here, are y'all okay...? No harm in simply stepping away from it if it makes you so uncomfortable?
Again, not justifying the manhwa nor certain elements of it, but I'M surprised people ARE surprised of the way the events unfolded. Did you bother reading the tags and/or content warnings beforehand? I think it is up to every individual to engage with content, this means dealing with the consequences as well. I don't get why there's so much unnecessary drama, even dragging other manhwa to this comment section.
