Imma be honest, i'm not that strong, i probably would have turned into an asshole or worst if i went through all that as well.
It's still not making me feel compassion towards him, we'll never get there (and it's okay), but still, sorry beginning of redemption arc, you're trying your best and that's all that matters. (to be fair, it's still sort of working, cause if the dude was just an asshole out of nowhere, nobody would even want to see him redeemed)
