True, I almost dropped it when that mage girl appear. What made me stay is that he's not entertaining them.

There is no romance I've read the novel, those blushy girls are only shown in the manhwa, they don't happen in the novel and even till 600+ chapters of the novel, no girls are close enough to mc like- barely had any interaction, instead we got bromance between mc and his oc lol

Yep, I think I saw one of the novel readers commented about this, which made me stay. Besides even tho there's a lot of girls blushing around mc, (who wouldn't (▰˘◡˘▰)) also, atleast the girls here have personalities and are not only shown as fanservice unlike other stories. ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭

idk If having women as characters in the plot would classify as being labeled 'harem'... There's still no romance, and by the sounds of it, the novel is not far off from that either. So far all we have is an aura farming mc dying for a day off lol

Yeah, I noticed that some people have different meaning for harem. I thought harem means the mc have a relationship with more than 1 person, but I saw in some comments just having multiple girls around mc even though they are not romantically involve with him is considered 'harem'.

Oh? That's an intriguing thought process, I must say. Though, wouldn't every webtoon & story from there on out be considered 'harem' in that circumstance? It doesn't quite make much sense in that aspect of things. So, I think I'll stick with the older definition, which would only take place with more than one romantic action and multiple parties involved lol

Exactly. I usually check the comments first before reading action stories because I want to know if there's a romance or harem(in my definition) in it. That's where I found out they call it harem if there's multiple women around the MC, say for example the 1st comment which called this story harem.

Honestly your definition of harem is in the literal sense. Which is absolutely correct, but in manga term, might be a bit more to it. It is when more than one character shows romantic and/or sexual intention for MC, amd pursues MC actively. So even if MC is only romantically involved in one FL, if the others still declare their intentions to be together with MC, it's still declared harem.

Another big harem label is when more than one character is portrayed heavily in fanservice poses, especially around MC. Yes, it's very annoying and degrading of those characters. And sometimes hinders the plot. But sadly, some people do like it, and these people are definitely the target audience for merchs.

Honestly that's harem in manga. But it's not really the case here, is it.

What people in the comments usually hate about is romance in action comics. Because God forbid there is emotions in action comics. It doesn't matter if there's nothing, one lady blushing is enough to deter some people from reading.

To be fair though, wtv. If they don't wanna read it, then let them be. They're mostly true in their hate anyway, because action authors don't usually know how to properly insert romance into the plot. Most of the time, romance in any capacity do destroy the flow of the plot. But some of them can be good if only you gave them the chance.

That's a really good explanation, i didn't know that there's a different meaning of harem in mangas and that other commenter are using the definition right, tho as you said there are also people who use the word harem to describe the story just because there's a romance in it.

As someone who hate romance in action stories, my reason is that, most of the time it's not needed in the story. You can also see other people who hate romance in story say, that if they wanted to read a romance story with action, they can read shoujo instead. The point is, if it's labeled action, then it should be purely action, and if there will be romance or harem in it, they should also label it to inform the readers.

Just imagine this, You're a vegetarian and went to eat to a restaurant who advertised that they only sell products for vegetarians, that means that they don't sell meat so you don't have to worry about eating it. You sit in your table ordered your vegetarian food and lo and behold, the waiter served you with nachos, with beef as dip as complimentary meal. When you complain to the manager why they serve you beef when they advertised that their restaurant don't sell meat, they answer you with "but we didn't sell it to you, it's a complimentary and free. The same as when they label a story as action then have romance or even worse become harem in the end. (Tho maybe the reason why they don't label it is because it will cause people not to read it)

I hope you get my point. However, even though I hate romance in action stories, I do still continue to read some of action stories even if they I found out that it has romance in it. Why? Simple. The romance was written and introduced well. I probably hate romance because of how the author portrays the women in it, a damsel in distress, only there for fan service and to boost the MC's ego, and no personality at all. There's even times when I want it there to be a romance in the action story I'm reading, even tho I hate romance in stories, which is contradicting. (ᵕ—ᴗ—)

So my point is, most of the time the reason why the readers hate romance in action stories is because of how it was written. Tho some people just hate romance the romance and girls being in the story.

Ps. Well that's all for my ramblings, you don't have to reply, gotta save this for when I have to explain my perspective about romance in action stories. ( ̄▽ ̄||)
