It was shown from the start that the ML was experimenting if the names just make you like the person w/ur name and stuff. Which is why I hated him from the start

i feel like one of them was like "hmm i wonder if having a name means that we'll be attracted energetically or if its psychosomatic? since im 'uninvested' (in quotes bc he is obviously VERY invested, damn near obsessive), let me run an experiment and see if theyll choose me even if we aren't bound by fate before i say anything"
and the other was like "i am interested in this guy and its easy to be with him, despite how annoying he is... im must like him right? but if he has a fated partner other than me, wont i be left alone? let me run an experiment and see if he chooses me even after he meets his fated partner before i say anything"
