Both Ian and TJ want different things and if they end up together thst means one of them would have to sacrifice the life they want, and its selfish for people to except it from either of them.

I agree. I know my comment may have come off superficial like “oh he just wants to fuck” and because I described it as not love. By that love I mean, making love with your significant other.
I do feel that there is depth to Ian wanting sex from TJ. That being an emotional comfort where he could lose himself in, but not quite as lovers or as family or as friends. Just a need.
Oh yes definitely to them, Ian specifically, finds comfort through physical touch. It’s all he’s really known, their whole dynamic and communication lives off of sex/touching each other which shouldn’t be the forever case.
This chapter really solidified the fact that Ian is only so stuck on TJ because of the sex. Repeatedly we’ve seen that when they come face to face it usually evolves into sex. To Ian sex with him is another ecstasy or high, something he used to achieve through drugs. He compensates his inner turmoil through temporary pleasures. Ian could fucking say he doesn’t love TJ and you’ll see them having sex and deny that fact. Sex doesn’t equate to love. Not in the context of Ian of course.
