I feel this too sometimes and figured out I don’t like stories where a lot of the story is told in flashbacks. I read Under the Green Light and now this and I get antsy to know what’s going on in the present more than the revelations of the flashback.
It’s like, ‘Couldn’t you guys have had a quick conversation about this? Or only have the really relevant scenes be the flashback instead of entire chapters of flashbacks?’ It makes it feel like the story wasn’t started in the right place.
That’s just my opinion though, I’m sure there are people that love them and even prefer to have the stories told this way. It’s not that it’s wrong, I just don’t jive with it.
maybe there’s smth up with me but i don’t care for thsi story at all i actually find it a bit boring tbh i tried when it was new and again recently and i can’t same thing with under the green light back when it first came out idk it didn’t click with me but the authors other work walk on water is definitely in my top 3 idk how many times ive reread it since it was still uploading like i know there’s plot to this with lots to unravel i just can maybe if it was a novel i’d read it
