mc is like crazy unreliable narrator levels idk how to explain basically mostly everything we know is confined to what mc sees and how he thinks. occasionally we get small glimpses into other characters thoughts but its not like super often especially about events. that's like the best part of this manhwa for me
we know nothing of mc's brother other than what mc ASSUMES he is. we're led to interpret ml's feelings the same way as mc. especially the part where mc acts the exact same way as jaeoh towards ml (mc does draw a bit more boundaries than ml but still its stretching it). all the explaining about how jaeoh should leave and shouldn't be stay (when mc was doing the same thing to ml). personally you kinda want to blame jaeoh cause like YEAH if he tells you to leave you should and you should also move on because he explicitly says he doesn't love you and its only going to hurt yourself more (even though mc does the same with ml smh) but then kinda gotta stop yourself cause you see the way he acts about his unrequited love and its is so parallel to mc.
now let's get to ml and that's a whole nother can of worms. I think its great they dont show much about his realisation of his feelings or his pain or his unrequited love/obsession??? ive read a bunch where they LOVE to shift focus to ml after a huge ass fight/breakup and ig its kinda stale. watching ml's sudden switch up because from the ma's pov this was random as hell, like I just got over you/you told me you dont love me and suddenly you do a 180. idk if that was what the author was going for (will check out the novel later) but i love how you see how much of an asshole move that is and its not really framed in a super romantic kinda way.
another thing is their mental health lowkey like it makes me sad seeing mc drown himself in physical pleasure and alcohol. I get he's trying to get over an unrequited love but you can feel him going back to his old ways and wasting away. him and ml too every time they both hook up its like putting duct tape over a broken faucet, its not helping the issue at all. especially in later chapters when ml starts chasing mc just to end up in bed again with no chance of actual communication. its like waiting for the ship to just sink. their relationship is so messy I sometimes dont know if I want them to stay together or just go separate ways. in a way its kinda like a match made in hell ig like they're made for each other. its kinda crazy how they parallel so much if you think about it
I'm kinda rambling but its been a while since ive been so interested in a characters behaviour. the mental gymnastics in justifying his behaviour, the drama, the pain of love and letting go its so *chefs kiss* tbh reading this story makes me glad I'm aroace and I won't be in a situation anywhere NEAR this all I can say is absolute cinema and wait for the continuation
