I think the real communication that needed to be had was between seme's heart and his brain. He'd loved uke since he was younger with the scarf, but I don't think he actually knew what love was. Then because the uke made himself so available, seme never realized that he didn't just want the uke but needed him. So it took the uke prioritizing himself and leaving to wake seme up and get his brain actually churning, but then he was too scared. He said he didn't seriously search for uke because he was scared what would happen when he found him, but then they run into each other through work. So i do thonk seme was trash in the beginning cuz theres no way he couldnt know uke loved him. As for uke not confessing, i mean he was trying to maintain what modicum of professionalism he had left after giving in and letting seme have his way with him. He was never going to initiate as long as they were teacher and student and tbh if he had that woulda been kinda gross and groomy. Anyways, thats why i think they took so long to get together
