The first comment above this explained something similar because even the male lead is lacking in so many ways this is a man who was allowing his soldiers to rape war prisoners and stuff and these are topics that were ignored too I thought by then they would’ve changed something especially with the time skip but the author is messy
I hate when they treat child crushes like deep meaningful romantic love, it just gives me the ick.
I also hate how this manhwa just superficially brings up complicated systematic social issues and then doesn't deal with them properly. Like, just don't get into it if you're gonna bail. Most romance manga that feature slavery don't really strongly address it, so my expectations aren't high to begin with. But don't address it so half-heartedly
