Gammas in this story are people who are unaffected by pheromones of extreme alphas. They are highly resistant to pheromones and can't turn into omegas as long as they regularly shower and clean themselves. Only exposure to extremely high concentration of pheromones for a long duration of time can convert an gamma into an omega. It is life threatening for a gamma to differentiate into an omega. Most of them don't survive. The miller grandparents, are a pair of alpha and a gamma turned omega
Oh yeah their resistance to pheromones is also the reason why almost all gammas work as bodyguards for extreme alphas
