Yeah! Ergot poisoning can get pretty bad and it's actually what kick started the witch trials especially in Salem. The girl wasn't possessed by a spirit she just had a fit and hallucination from ergot poisoning. So I definitely agree that this is likely to be ergot poisoning!
When she talked about Rye bread I got curious. I got confused what harm a bread can make. So did some research and I was surprised.
