I was gonna argue w this, saying how common it is for male leads to do batshit crazy stuff for mcs, but looking at it from a realistic lense, putting someone in the hospital and sweeping it under the rug like nothing happened shouldve been the biggest and most obvious red flag. if it can happen to someone else, it can happen to u too, no matter how special that person is making u feel in the moment

The worst is that He was not sent to the hospital because of mc , but because he refused to do smth the Ml told him to do . I don't remember if it was picking up a ball in the gym of smth like that. He didn't wanna do that and Ml sent people to beat him. The desk mate telling what happened to him to mc and mc having been bullied before and had his reputation tarnished by those bullies, still chose to continue his relationship with the Ml and even became part of the group of bullies, when in the beginning he said he has a profound hatred for bullies but became part of the group. This just shows how Mc is a hypocrite, he only cares when it's done to him, when it's others he doesn't care and consider himself special. He's not mad Ml is a psycho or bully but he's hurt by the fact that it was a bet. He loved the ML knowing he's what he's supposed to hate the most , "a crazy bully". Now he wanna be the victim so bad. Like what did you expect you f bitch .
Sorry for ranting, he really annoyed me on those early chapters. He's so contradictory.

now that u say it out loud, ur so right omg the fact that hes only slightly put off and a little angry at ml for bullying someone else, but goes haywire when he finds out about the bet. like THATS what crossed the line?? though, I understand characters can be morally gray or even be bad people, but its the fact that the narrative and rhe comments are trying to make him out to be some sort of hero or badass. like yes, its good to stand up for urself but being a victim doesnt automatically make u morally upstanding and we shouldn't pretend that he is

Exactly I can understand if the character is flawed, he doesn't necessarily need to be a good person, but the way the author is trying to paint him as a victim and blame the ml, and hold him alone accountable is just so annoying to me. He's not innocent, he's not naïve, he knew what he was doing. The author is pissing me off so bad with the other readers commenting here, hyping the mc . Mc is NOT INNOCENT, HE KNEW EXACTLY WHAT HE WAS GETTING INTO the moment he ignored what everyone was telling him about ML, even the ML's friends warned him but he didn't want to listen.

this is true but also factor in he was freshly bullied and so lonely and vulnerable and desperate for any companionship to the point where he let himself ignore the concerning signs because he wanted just 1 friend which I don’t think is super unrealistic ! Super frustrating but he definitely felt cornered and scared and hopeful
Wow now the author wants to portray mc as a badass, when he voluntarily fell into all of this by ignoring others people's warnings. Well I hope it's just the beginning for you. I'm just baffled people are encouraging him and complimenting him in the comments like... Bro he did all of this of his own will, he let himself be manipulated, you can't be manipulated when you knew which kind of person he is, and the group of friends he's part of are literally bullied, who bullied his desk mate into changing schools , they even sent him to hospital and They even warned him. He was not manipulated.... He made a choice , "Be special" and voluntarily became an idiot.
