I don't blame the ml at all, he is confused because he is straight. He did have his toxic moments but that's because he grew up in not so good environment. He wanted always to be with mc forever. I think he had feelings for mc way before but he didn't realize it and after he did he was even in denial. A Mc even realized how complicated it actually is. Imagine you begin to like your friend who is same sex as you are and you are straight your entire life but you love them very very much and for a Ml maybe a mc when they were young was his only peace in that environment and he couldn't wait to go see him, it was his safe place. So Imagine loosing that person.
