Half true. Yes, the FL mom did it but she was just blackmailed and instructed by the Empress brother. However, it is not an excuse for him to treat the FL badly. He was the one who brought her to his house. It was not the FL's fault if her existence reminded him his trauma. He should havr just return her instead of tormenting her for something she never did. Also, he knew this fact but he can still act normal towards the real mastermind while he blamed the FL
I totally agree that his treatment of the FL was unreasonable and he had the resources to keep her out of sight & mind, while ensuring she comfortable & safe.
On the other hand though seeing a constant reminder of your SA would be triggering for anyone. He handles it poorly, but that aspect does have to be also considered.

Nope. They were the perfect couple. The empress wanted to ruin the image of the Duke that's why she asked her brother to do that scheme. FL's mother is a victim too.
He is the one that brought the mc into his house. If seeing her is so triggering to him, he should have never took her in and quite literally torture someone innocent. He is no different than his abuser and for that I can't feel sorry for him.
Some of the earlier spoilers on here said he was SA by the FL's mum, who was paid by someone to bring the dad down.
