This feels very personal. I started reading this when there were only 14 chapters, so it’s been 6.5 years of me following this story. It meant so much to me, the beauty of first love, the resolve of togetherness, confrontation with expectations and the tragedy of duty. All of this was very close to my heart. There is a sense of loss that I’m feeling. I love GenSou, their growth and devotion to their craft and each other. But what really elevated the story for me was the story of their grandfathers, and history moving in such vicious cycles. In the end the story leaves the factor of succession unresolved, we never see their parents find out, but I think even if they did, these two would stay together. Shuugo’s grandfather seems wholly opposed to separating them in the name of duty, like the sacrifice he once made. I know these two will stay together, even if we aren’t able to see it. As time goes on, there is only the hope for progress and acceptance. I hope they live happily.
