It's easier for people people to remember bad and exciting things that happen rather than just regular history. The name of a royal who led a rebellion using their special magical task force is much more memorable than the name of another king in a long list of names. It even makes sense to me that he doesn't remember a list but a string of portraits that hung down a hallway he passed regularly.
this whole time i was wondering weather or not he knew who became emperor in this timeline. it’s interesting though how he clearly remembered gale as a rebel who ultimately failed but doesn’t remember who became emperor after that.
