As far as I’ve read (chapter 53) I don’t remember reading anything implying pedophilia in this. I’m pretty sure the old man felt pity/remorse and sympathy for the young mc which is why he decided to help him out during his childhood. He probably got attached to the mc when he was a kid which is why he helped him out but I saw it as brotherly love ?
