Honestly corvids are one of the most intelligent creatures on the planet and dogs don’t even come close. Dogs have to be actively trained over a long period of time meanwhile some dude was feeding crows in his backyard and they gave him some shiny thing they found (a wrapper) and told their friends. They went on and eventually they ran out of shiny things so they grabbed a dollar bill. The man was clearly happy and the crows recognised that so they kept giving him dollar bills and they learnt the value of money because he was happier with larger amounts of money than smaller amounts! Eventually they started turning to crime to get the reward/payment for food so he disbanded it but crows don’t have to be taught anything. They are very good at recognising patterns all on their own and can make on the fly decisions (hehe get it?) that most other animals can’t. I think only octopuses, dolphins and honey badgers and maybe bees(?) are of comparable intellect.
I think crows are amazing. They are the coolest animals. They're one of the only animals capable of reason.
We think of dogs as intelligent but even the most intelligent dog figures out problems through trial and error. They just do until they find something that works and remember that solution. Dogs will learn by watching other dogs but they don't usually go out of their way to teach each other. When crows are presented with problems they will actively think of a solution, look for tools, and then try things and once they find a solution they will actively teach it to other crows, which is more like how we solve problems.
I wrote all this out to explain why I feel like they should have made the crow guy more intelligent.
