Y'all are missing the point. I'm speaking in general here not only on the story of Jinx but also other works with abusive characters. I'll make myself clear first though, I don't think Jaekyung is executed well (yet) and I'm not a fan of the story so far. I'm just talking about this since I've seen these notions be completely blindsided by readers sometimes. Again, I'm speaking in GENERAL.

A person's past does not JUSTIFY the damage they cause in the present it EXPLAINS why they caused that damage in the first place. I think you're confusing the difference of justification and explanation. Justification means they had a valid reason for doing something and it's acceptable, explanation just shows you their cause without having to receive the correct moral approval.

This goes to people who say nothing will ever 'fix' what he did to Dan, it's true. You can't fully fix something that was already damaged. However, as someone who's 'healed' from abuse myself, even though you can't fully make the wounds Dan suffered disappear after what he was put through, those wounds can still heal despite leaving scars. Honestly your word usage icks me a bit since like I mentioned before, I'm an abuse victim who's been told multiple times to 'fix' myself already and become the person I was before the abuse again but anyways. Healing doesn't only involve one person. If both parties have a 'cause' that the other understands, and IF the party who was hurt still has the heart to forgive and understand as to why the other person did what they did despite the hurt they received, they will be unable to heal by themselves fully without involving the other person.

Abuse is a complicated topic. Its not so shallow as 'justifications' and 'fixing'. There's many notions to healing. It's not just about running away from the person who hurt you and forgetting. Sometimes the person you want to get away from the most is also the person you want to understand and hold closely the most as well.

As a person, you can normally detect when you can still forgive and understand a person despite them hurting you, or if there's really no going back and you just have to silently leave. Kim Dan is already starting to make that choice. You guys are missing that fact. You keep saying "Whatever Jaekyung does he will never be able to heal--" But did you forget Kim Dan's healing is not up to that asshole but to Kim Dan himself? It's like people forgot hes still a man who has his own will. He's not just 'the person Jaekyung fucked'. He just needs to take time to reorganize his thoughts and take up his will.

Well explained but I'm going to be honest.

They know. They are very well aware. But they act ignorant for attention 9 times outta 10. Many has explained it in various ways to help those confused. But they continue to say the same thing over n' over.

At some point, you just stop. At this point, it's impossible for them not to understand and yet they claim they do not understand.

Yeah, some people just refuse to see the notions in a story just because they dislike a character. However, I still wonder why they're unable to understand that they can still accept the point of a plot point and hate the characters involved in it at the same time

I don't know who you're beefing with (idcat, bless their soul) (づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ but I agree with you.
It's true. Just because something makes sense doesn't mean the wrong becomes right.
I wrote something somewhere before, writers/authors are breathing even more life into their characters and their situations these days. They're telling stories that reflect real-life people's real situations and history like a mirror (maybe except fantasy elements lol). It's not enough to read them just as-is anymore. It's alright to feel certain emotions like anger toward a character and their actions but we gotta work our brain now to better comprehend how they're living their life and understand their story.
This story is toxic, yeah, but I think the characters are well-written ( although a ton might not agree with me hah!). The way they dynamically change their emotions, expressions, how they process their thoughts and react to internal and external stimulations, it's so lifelike. But I agree, some executions didn't present them well.
Yeah, A broken vase can still be fixed, just doesn't look the same anymore, and there's nothing wrong with that if that's how the vase's owner wanted it. If he didn't want it mended and would rather trash it and get a new vase of another material, that's his choice too, but all in his due time.
Also, attaching the word fix on a person (let's say Dan is a real-life human being) going through something heavy and mentally exhausting is really ( ̄∇ ̄") insensitive and dehumanizing like, is he a broken tool that you can just duct tape and maybe it's all good?????? Are these people for real???
Yeah, it's not that shallow. Relationships are complicated even if it's a healthy one, a lot of effort had to be put into it to keep it that way. Breaking free from a toxic one takes more. Healing from it requires even more.
Anyway, keep surviving out there! (๑•ㅂ•)و✧

    That's not what they're taught.

They're not taught to handle challenges. Their way is the only way.
