He is from a danmei novel named "dumb husky and white cat shizun" disciple X master pairing. Mo ran did way worse than jaekhyun. Like wayy wayyyy worse irredeemable crimes but his backstory and everything made sense and despite things being not his fault he took 100% accountability and even atonement. I love this book because it deals action and consequences karma etc really nicely like no matter if u are protagonist u must face the karma of your own bringing. And his redemption arc was reallyyyy good too. Like you'll hate him as absolute scum for a good many chapters like right upto ch 100. Then starts his atonement arc which lasts another 100 chapters hehehehehhehejehej and its really delicious to see him pine yearn writhe n be torn to shreds by self guilt n regret. I kno we wont see all that here but it'd be nice to see jaekhyun get tortured by remorse too
