They don’t remember their first lifeline, they both remember from Oscar’s so knowing that she loved the painter guy but they couldn’t get the happy ending due to obvious reasons, Carcel isn’t stupid to think that she might want to go back to him, if you see from his pov, Ines didn’t actually love him initially he knew that fact and he also kind of realised Ines chose him to escape Oscar and Carcel only wants Ines happiness.
