I feel like a lot of people aren’t applying media literacy skills to this manhwa at all. It follows a lot of worn out modern BL tropes in some places, but I do think the way the author applies visual storytelling in a lot of the scenes and the way they can describe emotion without handholding the reader is REALLY GOOD. (There’s definitely a lot more strengths and weaknesses Backlight has, but I’m too high to think of any off the top of my head right now.) I think both sides of the “is Backlight good?” debate could use nuance in their view of it. It’s not the next Pride and Prejudice, but it’s got a good amount of substance to it.
I won't debate for either side but i fully agree with the media literacy skills thing so many of them are not able to take apart the small details that have been heavily hinted and SPELT out for then by the author
