As much as I want to believe that, he did leave him alone in that house hold for most of his life...
It's not his fault bcs he was mostly running the borders + he told us he'd die and repeat his life so maybe at some point he thought he didn't want to anything anymore and just let his life continue however it is since he's gonna repeat it + dive is still young I doubt it was that long he was tortured by that ugly woman, not making less of that baby's pain but maybe jainer knows at some point the duke will notice the problem
