So, Espers have incredible powers and abilities but it comes with the price of corruption or whatever curse a Guideverse story comes up with. There's a "tolerance" level of how much corruption an Esper can take. To lessen the corruption a Guide like channels it out/purifies it. They don't necessarily heal wounds, more like energy.
I'm not sure if you noticed but compatibility is also a factor. So regardless of either rank, it may not be an efficient/effective.
Now for effective ways for a Guide to purify a corrupted Esper, depends on skin contact.... And in the world of BL, sex is the best way for an Esper to be guided. (logically if they can't move idk how they're able to have sex but it's a story and BL)
There's typically no pheromones for Guideverse BL's so this is a more unique one.
Also, if there's other interpretations I'd welcome it. These are mainly my takes. I can try to answer or clarify more but lowkey I feel like there's better examples
